Can run Belly Bars
1. The cars are to be constructed according to the rules. If certain items are not specified, it doesn't mean it is legal.
The judge's decision will be final, so call before you do something that you don't understand.
2. All cars must be on grounds one-hour before event to be inspected. Any cars arriving late will not be eligible to
compete unless prior arrangements have been made. All cars must be removed immediately after the show or they
will become the property of the local salvage yard.
3. Approved racing helmets must be worn at all times. Goggles or a face shield, fire suit or long sleeve shirt must be
worn. Long pants and closed toe shoes are mandatory. No shorts allowed. If a driver removes his/her helmet while
the event is taking place they will forfeit all winnings and be disqualified for the night.
4. Any unsportsman like conduct by the driver or the crew will cause your car to be disqualified and forfeit of any
winnings. The judge's decision will be final.
5. No liquor or intoxicating beverages allowed in pit area. Possession of alcohol or drugs in pits will result in
disqualification of your car.
6. The purpose of the derby is to provide entertainment for the spectators. Anyone not complying with the rules will
be barred from the event.
7. It is mandatory for everyone entering into the pits to purchase a pit pass.
8. If a car is found illegal, no entries will be refunded. Cars should be brought legal. Not having a set of rules is not
our fault. The fair board or promoter reserves the right to approve or reject any entries. Cars will be subject to
inspection after event.
9. The driver is the only person allowed to drive the car at the venue. The driver is the only person allowed around
the car while their car is being inspected. Cars will be disqualified if rule is not followed.
PREPARATION OF CAR:
No trucks, vans, ambulances, jeeps, carry-alls, limousines, Hearse, 4-wheel drives, checker cabs, propane cars, 73
or older Chrysler imperials. No Chrysler bodies on imperial frames. 2003 and newer Fords must remain factory
(drive line, rear end, and bumpers are the only things that can be changed). This includes the cradle. In 2010,
there is to be no shortening of rear frame rails in any manner. In the matter of clipping cars, there is to be no
MIX-MATCHING of frames. Ford to Ford. GM-to-GM ECT. No shortening of cars in 2010. Cars are to be
constructed according to rules. Judges decision is FINAL.
FRAMES:
1.There is to be NO painting of frames. If you are painting a frame you are cheating and you won't run.
2. ALL factory frame holes must remain OPEN
3. All cars may be pitched in the front. There is to be no metal added when pitching a car.
4. The rear humps may be plated. The plate may be ¼ in. steel, maximum 22 inches in length from end to end, must
be cut to contour of frame, placed in center of hump and this plate must be on the outside only. The rear arch plate
must have no more curve than a crescent shape.
5. A 3x3 Washer may be welded over the CENTER of each body mount hole. TOP SIDE ONLY.
6. You may have a 5 inch long piece of angle welded to frame to set the cross member on if you like
7. All cars must use the factory core support mounts. There is to be no welding of angle iron or pipe to the side of
the frame to mount your core support. This mount is considered a body mount. It can ONLY be strengthened with a
3x3 washer. Fords must run factory mounts.
8. You may have ball joint stops, but they must be bolted on only.
9. No welding, plating, or pinning of frames. You may weld the top seam from the front of the A-Arms forward. NO
OTHER FRAME SEAMS MAY BE WELDED.
10. You may repair a bent frame. You may only use 4 plates no larger than 4x6. Plates may be welded on all 4
sides. No more than 2 patches on any corner of the car. No part of the patch OR the weld may touch. 4 Patches
MUST be painted white. You may reclip a bent car. When doing this, you may only use the butt weld method.
11. Rust damage may be repaired with the same size metal. No more than a 1-inch over lap.
ENGINES:
1.Engines and transmissions may be interchanged.
2. Motor mounts may be welded, but no extra bracing to frame.
3. NO SKID PLATES. Oil pans and transmission pans may be strengthened.
4. Radiators must remain in stock location. You cannot run extra radiators or water supplies.
5. Transmission and oil coolers are allowed.
6.Transmission/oil coolers and battery boxes cannot strengthen frame in anyway
7. Batteries must be moved. You can use 2 batteries, but they must be securely mounted in passenger side
floorboard area. Batteries must be covered.
8. All fuel cells and fuel lines must be covered in area where they may become pinched or cut.
9. Engine Mounting plates are legal, but they cannot connect to anything but the engine. They cannot reinforce the
car in any way.
10. You may have 2 spots of wire or chain coming off front side of motor going to the engine cradle only
Tires:
No studded tires. Valve stem protectors are OK. We do not want flats.
CAGES: Standard 4 point cage MAX.
1. A cage of no bigger than 4 in. pipe or 4x4 in. box tubing can be used. (Standard 4 Point Cage Only) 4in MAX!
(This will be enforced in 2010).
2. The front 2 down legs can be welded to the topside of frame only (welded to the side rail only). These legs must
be vertical and cannot have plates or gussets welded off of them going to the frame. They MAY NOT be welded to
the front clip in any way.
3. Front bar of cage running under dash must be 6 in. behind front firewall. It cannot have kicker going to the
firewall. There is to be nothing welded from the dash bar going to the firewall or butted to the firewall. Only 1 dash
bar.
4.The cage may have an overhead bar or roll over bar. The roll bar must be straight up and down, no pitch towards
rear of car. The down legs may be welded to the topside of the frame only. This bar must be within 6 inches of the
doorpost. 2 door cars, 6in from the back of the drivers seat. (This will be measure with steel block).
5.Sidebars no longer than 4in. past dash or rear bar.
6. Drivers may add 1 down bar next to their seat or legs. This bar is for safety only. The bar can only connect to
the driver's door bar. It must be vertical and must be at least 12 in behind the front cage leg.
Protectors: In 2010 we will be using a steel 6in block to measure in between the dash bar and the firewall. Also
from the gas tank protector to the rear firewall. Any part of the cage that prevents the block from passing thru will
have to be cut. (Must be 6in at the top and bottom of bar). DP= Distributor Protector
1. DP's are legal in the follow manner. They can be no wider than the intake. They must be straight up and down
only. DP's may bolt to the engine ONLY!
2. DP's can be butted to the firewall. (NO WELDING, BOLTING, OR ATTACHING PROTECTORS TO THE FIRE
WALL). Dash bar must be 6in behind firewall.
3. Protector cannot strengthen frame in anyway.
4. Cars running windshield bars may only tack weld the bar to the firewall 6in to either side of the DP. 2 bars max.
5. If you run a DP, you may not have anything running from the firewall to the dash bar. (No all-thread, bars, or any
other solid material.)
6.You may run a gas tank protector in the following manner.
7. Gas tank Protector may not be any more than 36 inches wide.
8. Protector must be at least 6in from rear firewall. Do not beat firewall back.
9. Protector must be at least 3 inches off the floor.
10. The protector may not connect to anything other than the seat bar of the cage.
BODY: cars must be stripped of all flammable materials.
1.Doors may be welded solid, including the tops of doors. 3in strapping max.
2.Body mounts may be changed. Max bolt size 1in. Mounts cannot go thru the bottom side of the frame. Body
mount washers cannot exceed 4x4. . Body bushings may be removed, but must use a 1in spacer in its place.
3. A 12 in. hole must be cut in hood above carburetor. Half hoods on car are OK. If no hood, no fan on motor. If fan
blades become exposed, car is disqualified.
4. Hood is allowed 6 fasteners. Neither the hood nor any wires can be bent down in front of radiator. Hood Washers
may be no more than 6x6.
5. Core Support may be bolted down with All thread 1 in. maximum may be ran thru core support next to radiator
only, one on each side. They can go thru the hood.
6. No bolting or welding of body panels together, with the exception of fender wells. Fender wells may be bolted
together using 4 bolts 5/16ths or smaller.
7. Rusty panels may be patched by using no more than 1in overlap. You must patch rust with the same thickness of
metal, if thicker metal is used it will be cut off.
8. If car has been previously ran, we would allow you to repair body to keep it from falling off.
9. No internal bracing of body.
10. No interior seam welding on any body parts.
11. There can be no bars in the rear window
12. Car must have a safety strap in place of windshield. If using a bar or welded strap, they may be welded to the
fire wall no closer than 6in. from the edge of the DP.
13.Firewalls must be in original place with no extra metal or weld added. All holes must be covered to prevent hot
fluids from entering the driver's compartment.
TRUNKS:
1.A 12 in. hole must appear in trunk lid, not in the trunk floor. Tail light areas must remain open. TAIL LIGHT HOLES
DO NOT MAKE YOU 12IN HOLE.
2. No wedged cars. (Unless it happens naturally during the derby) Trunks may be tucked.
3. Trunk lids can be welded solid with 3-inch wide strips 1/4 thick and cannot be overlapped. Strapping cannot be
welded to rear window post. Trunk lids may not be moved.
4. Trunks may be "V'd" in the center but the back quarters must remain in the stock position. If you rip the rear post
when V'ing the trunk, YOU CANNOT PATCH IT! If a car has a patch on the rear post (that is not rusty), they will cut
the entire patch and the entire weld off the post.
5. Speaker trays may be beat down or removed, but they may not be altered with weld.
6.You may have 1 piece of 1 inch all thread in the center of the trunk with max 3x3 washers. Tail light areas must
remain open.
7. You may weld 2 straps from you trunk lid to the bumper. These straps may not exceed 3in. in width.
8. All creased cars will have to cut inspection holes in creases per judge's decision. 1-3 per side depending on how
the creases are made.
BUMPERS:
1.Any year car bumper and bumper brackets allowed on any car.
2. The bumper must be fastened with factory brackets no homemade brackets.
3. You cannot use rear brackets on the front of the car.
4. Bumpers can be welded solid to the frame. You may weld straps from the bumper to the frame on all 4 sides.
Straps may only be welded to the first 2 in. of the frame.
5. Bumpers cannot be welded to the body.
6. Bumpers must have factory skin and factory backing.
7. You may load the inside of the bumper if you like. You can weld the bumper skin.
8. Maximum bumper height is 24 in. to bottom of bumper, minimum is 16 in. In 2010 this will be checked before the
heats.
9.You may hard nose a bumper. You may stub the frame back to core support mount. Core support mounts may
not be relocated. You may weld shock to the frame back to factory bolting spot. No welding past that point. Shocks
may only be bolted in factory manner. No relocating bolts.
SUSPENSION:
1. All suspensions must have the ability to work in the factory manner.
2.You may bolt the front suspension solid with one 1/2 bolt per side. The head of the bold may be welded to the
frame.
3. No all thread for shocks.
4. Any factory 5-lug axle rear end allowed. No 8-lug conversions. No changing of coil to leaf springs.
5. Coil springs may be tack welded or wired to brackets.
6. Rear end protectors cannot come within 6 inches of frame.
7. On leaf spring cars, no more than 7 per side and no wider than 2-½ inches. No Flat springs. Factory Stagger. No
leafs on top of main leaf. No leafs thicker than 1/4in. 8. Only 3 leaf clamps per side. These clamps can be no wider
than 3 inches and leafs cannot be welded together.
8.You may modify or weld tie rod ends and control arms.
9. Sway bar may be modified, but can not strengthen the frame.
10. Rear suspension must move.
11. Control arms may be strengthened.
